Academics

We believe education is about shaping who students become, so we partner with parents in nurturing the minds, hearts, and habits of our students. Our greatest hope is that TCS graduates will love Jesus, their families, others, and the pursuit of learning throughout their lives.

All Rhetoric School courses at The Covenant School are designated as honors courses, and Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated on a 5.0 scale. The academic calendar contains four quarters of approximately nine weeks each. Students receive a final course grade that averages the four quarterly grades. The final course grade appears on the transcript. The Covenant School does not publicly rank students. Our graduating classes are small, our range of grades is narrow, and our college-preparatory program is rigorous.

Our graduation requirements are designed to allow students more options in their schedules as they get closer to graduation from The Covenant School. Our vision is to empower students to take more ownership over their education and the classes they choose to take as they mature. To fulfill our graduation requirements, students must complete the service learning component of 25 volunteer hours per year (9th-12th grades) and a senior project during their 12th grade year.

  • Service Learning: At The Covenant School, we believe that true fulfillment comes through serving others. To foster a positive impact on the world, we have a volunteer service hour requirement for our high school students. Our goal is that these habits of service will help shape their character. When students graduate from The Covenant School, we hope they will be compassionate leaders, contributing joyfully to their communities. We require all high school students to complete 25 hours per year of volunteer community service throughout their time in high school.

  • Senior Project: This capstone experience is based on a student's personal interests and their abilities to demonstrate the school’s values. Students are encouraged to choose a project of their liking based on their passions and unique skill sets. Through the process, we hope students will gain a better understanding of how they are uniquely created and gifted to create a positive impact on the world. These projects require a minimum of 40 hours of work. Portfolios and projects are presented by each student in front of a panel of faculty and community leaders.

Dual Credit Program

We want to position our students for success through the classes they take at TCS. For students who will pursue a college education, we believe offering this dual credit program will help students save time and money. This option allows us to develop courses that offer students the ability to earn credit for college. Our courses are set to high academic standards that will be looked upon favorably by colleges.

Our Spanish Program

Students have the opportunity to learn Spanish at The Covenant School beginning in Kindergarten through Spanish V as a senior. We believe that learning a new language is an academic exercise and a tool for communication. Our desire is that our students would grow in their ability to communicate in Spanish, allowing them to build relationships with Spanish speakers and equipping them to serve others in our community and around the world. Our goal is to graduate students from our program who have a love for people of all cultures and have the language skills necessary to engage with the world around them.

Classical Languages is also a potential course offering for the 2025-2026 academic year.
